
João Pedro Marnoto, born in 1975 in Porto, Portugal, after completing his photography degree in the UK, has devoted his work in over 25 years of professional practice within the grounds of documentary storytelling. Extending his tools of trade from still into moving image, has been experimenting increasingly with practices more within the field of fiction.
Has already collaborated with numerous editorial, institutional and commercial entities such as New York Times, Geo, UNESCO and Symington Family Estates, and among various distinctions and presentations, his work has received several awards in the Graphis Advertising Annual, a Shortlist at the Clube da Criatividade de Portugal, the Best Portuguese Documentary at the Cine’Eco International Environmental Film Festival, and his documentaries were broadcasted on Portuguese TV SIC (“Faith in Donkeys”) and RTP (“Nine Months of Winter and Three of Hell” and “La Grande Famille”). On a final note, his approach intents to be an intimate exercise of awareness and consciousness, with his projects reflecting on issues of identity and the human condition, within an environmental, sociological and personal perspective.
